Direct Therapy Services:
Direct, individual therapy is offered for children and adolescents and adults. Children and young adolescents benefit from individual therapy experienced within a family therapy context. As such, frequent Parenting Consultation and Coaching are incorporated into treatment, allowing optimal development, change and growth to occur. Tina devises individualized treatment strategies, designed to fit your child’s (and family’s) needs and develops and maintains liaisons with schools and other helping professionals when necessary.
Parenting Consultation and Coaching:
Parenting is a difficult job, even when everything is “going well.” If your child is struggling—with anxiety, depression, behavior problems, having trouble in school or having difficulty making and keeping friends, the job of parenting can be overwhelming. As parents, you have the ability to help your child by examining yourself and your own behaviors/reactions, and shaping the environment in which your child lives. Parenting Coaching is designed to support you while you are supporting your child. Tina offers explanations for some of your child’s more challenging behaviors and helps you to develop collaborative plans with alternative views, strategies and techniques to implement.
Social Skill Building and Development (Groups and Individual Coaching):
Children, adolescents and adults who struggle with social awareness require a particular approach, different from psychotherapy. Tina utilizes a coaching approach, combining direct teaching, activity-based, multi-modal learning, and the opportunity to practice emerging skills. She is affiliated with The Child and Family Art Therapy Center and is currently forming groups for “The Art of Friendship©” social skills program in the Pennington/Princeton area. These groups are designed for children, adolescents and young adults who require assistance to think more socially, to develop social awareness and to build social skills.
